A collectible card game in which players play pokémon cards on each other and fight against each other, referred to as the pokémon trading card game (TCG). The goal is to build a deck of cards and use strategic plays to defeat your opponent’s Pokemon by reducing their HP hit points to zero. Flips draw cards, playing pokémon, attaching energy cards, and using special trainer cards to get an edge in the match.

There are 60 cards for each player that begin with Pokémon cards, energy cards, and trainer cards. Pokémon cards are battled (with the use of Pokémon cards), energy cards are needed to perform attacks, and trainer cards provide many bonuses such as drawing more cards or healing Pokémon. Each knockout involves players trying to defeat their opponent’s Pokémon and collecting prize cards for each knockout. The game is won by the first player who collects all of their prize cards or matches certain win conditions.

The game also features several expansions which introduce new Pokémon moves and strategies to keep it fresh and new. The Pokémon TCG, however, is played physically with real cards or digitally through the Pokémon TCG Online, allowing players to create decks and compete against others worldwide.
